Roman earrings for today’s heroines! ✨

In the 19th century, the increasing interest in Egyptian history, culture and art led to a veritable contest between the European nations, all aiming to secure antiquities of the best possible quality (and quantity) for their national museums. The German archaeologist Richard von Kaufmann undertook an archeological campaign at Hawara, at the entrance of the Al Fayum (Fayyum, Faiyum, Fayoum) oasis in Egypt, in 1892 and his most important find was the Tomb of Aline, dated to 24 AD, which contained eight mummies of which three were adorned with mummy portraits (hers and her 2 young daughters)

Based on the earrings worn by the lady Aline in her mummy portrait (📷 Neues Museum, Staatliche Museen zu Berlin), we created these historic/contemporary earrings with a large White coin pearl between 2 x striated Brass beads and on sturdy gold plated 925 silver hooks
