Edison Pearl and Gold Link Multi-Functional Necklace

I have always been a fan of multi-functional pieces of jewellery, as you get more mileage out of them for different occasions, so when I decided to create this high-end necklace with Edison pearls, I owed it to myself and our discerning customers to engineer it in such a way that it can be worn in several ways.

To avoid the use of extra clasps or unsightly connection pieces, I designed and sourced chunky gold plated links inlaid with cubic zirconia which allowed me to divide the necklace seamlessly into 3 sections so it can be worn as one long necklace, a shorter necklace with 1 matching bracelet or as an 18” necklace with 2 bracelets whilst looking glamorous each time!

Edison pearls are the latest development in the Chinese technology of culturing pearls, since 2014, and were created to rival the prestigious South Sea pearls from Australia but at much more affordable prices.

Whereas freshwater pearls are formed when 20-30 pieces of tissue from another oyster are implanted in a new oyster, the oysters used for Edison pearls are implanted with a single large round bead, aiming to create perfectly round pearls since the oyster is able to focus all its energy on a single pearl at a time. This results in a lower yield, but the focus is on quality not quantity. The result is high quality pearls with stunning lustre which can measure up to 16mm.
